Thomas is a senior partner at McKinsey in Houston and Austin. During his more than 28 years with McKinsey, Thomas has led McKinsey’s Global Energy & Materials Practice, led the Houston office and Southern Region in the United States, and been an elected member of McKinsey’s Shareholders Council (board of directors).

He supports leading companies in the United States, Europe, and Asia on strategic step changes and major transformation initiatives, counsels multiple CEOs and top executives, and leads McKinsey’s support of several industry leaders.

Thomas has been a frequent speaker on energy trends, technology topics like AI, and board best practices at the World Economic Forum, the Oxford Energy Seminar, and the National Association of Corporate Directors.

He is the Chair of a McKinsey board and a member of the Board of Directors at the Greater Houston Partnership. He served on the National Association of Corporate Directors as Chair of the Strategy Committee, Co-Chaired the Global Oncology Committee on the MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors, and Chaired ChooseU, an education nonprofit that has won many awards.
