Thomas is a Senior Partner in McKinsey’s Munich office, where he focuses on marketplaces and Private Capital.

As the global leader of our work in marketplaces and the leader of the technology investment in Private Equity, he helps companies shape their strategy and execution to create value through topline growth topics. Thomas has led multiple engagements involving corporate and technology strategy, M&A due diligence, business development, marketing and sales, and large-scale transformations in the broader tech space, for which he continuously advises executives. He has led more than 150 projects in the marketplaces space, mostly focused on growth and value creation across the globe. He has supported multiple marketplaces on their transformations, including in preparation for IPOs. He also has profound experience in private equity value creation.

Examples of Thomas’ recent client work include the following:

  • Leading a multi-year implementation of a growth and margin improvement program for an online classified company, including analytics-driven pricing, improved go-to-market, and inorganic growth levers in Europe
  • Introducing and establishing a new operating model, including the transformation of the product management and marketing organization as well as coaching of the relevant executives in their new roles
  • Leading multiple verticalization strategies for marketplace companies, including expansion of the value creation into new verticals, financing services, and asset-heavy expansions in Europe, Asia, and the United States
  • Leading a full-potential program for a leading digital infra investor across several portfolio companies
  • Leading a holistic multi-year value creation program for a German family office in the real estate space

Thomas has been a frequent presenter at the Global Marketplace Summit and several Investor Day conferences in the marketplace space.
