Suhrid is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Washington, DC, office and is a leader of our global Financial Services Practice with expertise in banking and professional services. Suhrid helps management teams of financial services companies and professional services institutions dramatically improve performance and health across numerous topics, including strategy, operations, customer experience, and digital and analytics transformations. Suhrid is knowledgeable on institutional financial services and has advised numerous asset and wealth managers, corporate and investment banks, and market infrastructure players.

Suhrid cofounded McKinsey’s professional services unit, which helps law firms and other professional services companies improve performance and health. He formerly led our work on corporate business functions in banking, helping clients build world-class support functions.

Some of Suhrid’s recent experiences include:

  • guiding a multiyear performance improvement for a leading institutional financial services business, creating over $200 million in growth through a new go-to-market model and over $50 million in efficiency through a value-based productivity system
  • helping lead a holistic, multiyear transformation of a Fortune 20 financial institution, improving the net promoter score four times to top decile and delivering over $300 million in impact in pricing and efficiency
  • developing a North American wealth management strategy to triple the business for a leading global bank
  • designing, building, and maturing digital capabilities for a leading financial institution, including digital strategy, operating model design, and sustained capability building
  • transforming the analytical approach and operating model for a leading market infrastructure company through developing and implementing new advanced analytics capabilities and workflow
  • leading over 30 corporate business function transformations across sectors, including banking, energy, and industrial
  • advising on more than a dozen efforts for law firms across strategy, talent, governance, and operational improvement
  • collaborating on McKinsey’s governance review, resulting in changes to structures, operating model, and the professionalization of functions

Suhrid holds a bachelor’s from the University of Virginia, where he was a Jefferson Scholar; a master’s in history from Harvard University; and a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. He is a member of the Boards of the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University, Ed Navigator, and Woodberry Forest School, and a former Foundation Board member of the School of Education at the University of Virginia.
