Sid helps complex financial services institutions in the private and public sectors scale and capture value from technology, especially AI and gen AI, as they undergo transformations enabled by data and analytics. He serves organizations across sectors, including property and casualty insurers, life insurers, tax authorities, pensions, and welfare authorities. He leads our AI work in insurance in the United Kingdom, working primarily with QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey, leading the practical application of generative and other forms of AI into business domains and workflows. He is passionate about helping organizations rewire their operations end to end, build and integrate AI models, reengineer processes, create new technology stacks, and optimize customer journeys. He works with organizations when they seek to build AI products for competitive advantage to outperform competitors who are buying SAAS products.

- supporting the UK entity of a top European insurance group in identifying and deploying a first-in-market, gen-AI-enabled improvement to a core business area
- delivering an end-to-end, multiple use-case AI-enabled transformation of the claims operations of a top UK insurer, improving customer outcomes, claims accuracy, and employee experience
- supporting an insurer in identifying how to improve its unit cost of change, including next-generation capabilities such as the application of gen AI across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- encouraging a leading insurer to revamp for the next five years of technological change, leading a portfolio review and building the case for a significant five-year technology platform investment
- advising a European insurer on its mobility ecosystem strategy, taking into account usage patterns in different mobility modes, autonomous vehicles ramp-up, and regulatory trends
- aiding a European tax authority on an end-to-end transformation of its income tax services, spanning customer queries, process steps, error and fraud improvements, digitization, and more
- guiding a European tax authority in designing and kickstarting an advanced analytics program focused on delivering multiple use cases through a series of “digital studios”
- counseling an EMEA social welfare authority on a full revamp of its error and fraud function, including using AI (supervised learning and anomaly detection) to identify new fraud patterns
- delivering a first-of-a-kind digital twin and simulator of the payment rails for a tax authority that was exploring the ability to collect value-added tax (VAT) through payment systems by 2030
- collaborating with a European tax authority on applying predictive analytics into its debt management operation post-COVID, enabling significant recovery of outstanding debt
- leading the analytics transformation of a global insurer’s European claims division, delivering use cases across fraud, bodily injury, and repair
- advising a global insurer on scaling up its analytics and AI across ten country units, including sizing and prioritizing domain-level transformations, individual use cases, and capabilities
- helping a global insurer design and deliver a service and ops journey optimization minimal viable product (MVP), digitizing and straight-through processing approximately 40 percent of volumes and integrating AI into the journey
In addition to his client work, Sid has also served the McKinsey Global Institute and, while on sabbatical from the firm, supported the Ethiopian government’s Agricultural Transformation Agency. Additionally, he is a cofounder of The Perennial Foods Group, an East African social enterprise that helps subsistence farmers transition to regenerative agriculture.
