Leads McKinsey’s work with health insurers across North America and counsels private- and public-sector leaders on strategy, innovation, organization, and operations to improve performance and delivery for customers, constituents, and other stakeholders.

As McKinsey’s leader for health insurers across North America, Adi helps organizations navigate industry transformation, deliver more value to customers and key stakeholders, and strengthen long-term performance. He also advises senior leaders in government and the private sector on complex challenges in strategy, operations, innovation, and organizational effectiveness.

Adi has been working to improve healthcare for more than two decades, and has been working directly with health insurers for nearly 15 years. Since joining McKinsey in 2003, he has led major transformation programs for CEOs, federal officials, governors, and other senior executives. He previously led McKinsey’s work in healthcare performance transparency, payment innovation, and value-based payment models, and during 2020–21 he guided McKinsey’s public-sector COVID-19 response.

He also brings substantial experience from outside of healthcare. Prior to his current role, he was McKinsey’s global leader in economic development, infrastructure, public finance, and public benefits programs. In 2021 founded McKinsey’s Reinvesting in America initiative, focused on helping US public and private sector organizations maximize the impact of federal investment funding. In 2018, he founded McKinsey’s Government Transitions Initiative—a non-partisan program that helps new state and federal leaders build effective teams, set priorities, and improve outcomes for their constituents.

Adi brings extensive public-service experience, including senior roles in the White House in two different Administrations (2009-2012 and 2021), where he led the implementation of large economic recovery packages, which also included large healthcare components: the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (2009) and the American Rescue Plan Act (2021).

Adi is a graduate of both Georgetown University and Stanford University Graduate School of Business. In addition, he serves as Vice Chair of Humane World for Animals (previously called the Humane Society of the United States)and previously served as an adjunct faculty at Georgetown University.
