As a Compliance Specialist, you will be based in Europe (with other options considered), as part of our Ethics & Compliance External Reporting team. The E&C function’s mission is to manage risks to our firm, our clients, and our people, while also enabling our firm’s client impact and innovation.
The E&C function is a globally integrated team within the second line of defense of our firm. McKinsey has an E&C program that is structured in a way that ensures that it is well designed, empowered to function effectively, and works in practice. Our E&C program includes a clear message that misconduct is not tolerated as well as policies, procedures, training, monitoring and consequence management to ensure the program is well-integrated into our firm’s operations and workforce. This opportunity works in the Regulatory Readiness and Response pillar, which is responsible for overseeing the centralized development and filing of external mandatory reports on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) topics. This role reports to the Associate Director of Compliance, Regulatory Readiness & Response (RRR), External Reporting.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a complex reporting environment involving multiple standards and deadlines. Specifically, you will:
- Contribute to building and implementing the new external regulatory reporting program to ensure adherence to applicable ESG reporting regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, E&C, subject matter experts and other advisors to map, understand and apply the reporting requirements and ensure that all reporting requirements are met.
- Develop tailored solutions to meet multiple internal and external ESG reporting requirements with varying deadlines, ensuring the centralized mandatory reporting function operates optimally.
- Project manage end-to-end data collection, validation, syndication and approval processes for various reporting requirements.
- Evidence and maintain comprehensive documentation including technical files and supporting evidence for externally reported data.
- Conduct peer-benchmarking, research and technical analyses to inform the reporting process and implement requirements (e.g., ESG materiality assessments).
- Monitor the external reporting landscape, best practices, and regulatory developments to proactively alert program leadership team on upcoming ESG regulations and standards affecting the industry.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing process optimization, technology solutions to automate workflows, and standard operating procedures and training materials to standardize and streamline the reporting process.
You will play a critical role in sustaining and evolving our firm’s E&C program and upholding our commitment to integrity and lawful practices by helping shape and evolve E&C’s new external reporting capability. In addition, you will be engaging in regionally focused initiatives, such as our infusing integrity agenda, under the direction and coordination of our regional E&C leaders, the purpose of which is to raise awareness of and further our firm’s E&C program, and other agreed-upon supporting activities in your region or location.
